    At a rally outside the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 5, 2021, Miller told the crowd: “Hitler was right on one thing. He said, ‘Whoever has the youth has the future.’” She later apologized after bipartisan condemnation.

    Onstage with Donald Trump on June 25, 2022, Miller thanked him for “the historic victory for white life in the Supreme Court.” Her campaign said she misread her notes.

    Hours after the January 6 attack on the Capitol, Miller voted to throw out the certified electoral votes of Arizona and Pennsylvania.

    Voted against protecting same-sex & interracial marriage

    Miller voted NO on the Respect for Marriage Act (H.R. 8404), which safeguards same-sex and interracial marriages. It passed 258–169 with bipartisan support.

    Voted against honoring the police who defended the Capitol

    She was one of just 21 members of Congress to vote against awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to the officers who protected the Capitol on January 6. It passed 406–21.

    Attacked a Sikh prayer, demanded a “Christian nation”

    After a Sikh chaplain delivered the U.S. House’s opening prayer in June 2025, Miller called it “deeply troubling” and posted that America “was founded as a Christian nation.” She first wrongly identified him as Muslim, then deleted the post.

    Deliberately misgendered the first transgender member of Congress

    On February 6, 2025, presiding over the House as Speaker pro tempore, Miller recognized Rep. Sarah McBride — the first openly transgender member of Congress — as “the gentleman from Delaware, Mr. McBride.” She then posted publicly that she had “refused to deny biological reality.”

    Displayed a militia group’s logo at the Capitol

    His pickup truck, photographed near the Capitol on January 6, bore the decal of the Three Percenters, a far-right anti-government militia movement. He later removed it and denied membership.

    On May 28, 2019, Miller voted NO on the Reproductive Health Act (SB25), which established a fundamental right to abortion in Illinois. It passed the House 64–50.

    On May 31, 2019, Rose voted NO on the Reproductive Health Act (SB25), the law that made abortion a fundamental right in Illinois. It passed the Senate 34–20.

    Weeks after the Highland Park parade shooting, Rose voted against the Protect Illinois Communities Act, saying it would “make felons out of taxpayers.”

    In February 2019, Rose voted NO on raising Illinois’ minimum wage to $15 an hour, warning it would not be “magic beans for central Illinois.”

    The Illinois State Board of Elections removed Niemerg from the March 2024 primary ballot because his statement of candidacy was not properly notarized. He kept the seat only by winning the nomination as a write-in.

    Niemerg was among nine Republicans the Illinois House voted to eject from the chamber for refusing to follow its COVID masking rule.

    DUI arrest and a guilty plea to obscene conduct

    Niemerg was arrested for DUI in 2003 at more than twice the legal limit, and in 2006 pleaded guilty to obscene conduct. He later dismissed the 2006 incident as “peeing on a tree during my college days.”
